TBI/Concussion Treatment Charlotte:
Blurry vision, headaches, chronic fatigue, pain, and so on. Recovering from a traumatic brain injury is a long and challenging road that can look very different from one person to the next. A traumatic brain injury can have symptoms lasting long past the initial injury, which don’t usually resolve. At Better Brain & Body, we consistently see patients with traumatic brain injuries or concussions. Our lead physician, Dr. Alicia Brown, has had thousands of hours of training in clinical neuroscience, giving her a deep understanding of how to optimize brain and nervous system health for the benefit of her patients at her clinic in Charlotte, NC.
Personalized Approach to TBI / Concussions
At Better Brain & Body, we understand that each journey toward recovery after a traumatic brain injury (TBI) is unique, so our approach is deeply personalized. Our mission is to guide you on a personal path of comprehensive brain rehabilitation that goes beyond traditional methods. With the principles of functional neurology at the heart of our practice, we're here to help your brain rediscover its resilience and potential.
Most patients we see have been to countless other healthcare providers with little to no answers as to why they still cannot function normally. At Better Brain & Body, we extensively discuss your medical history, how you feel now, and what goals you hope to reach. Our window into the brain’s functionality is achieved through extensive but comfortable diagnostic testing. We look at the whole person, brain, and body. We analyze the brain and nervous system with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment that measures brain processing speeds, eye movement patterns, changes in balance down to a 100th of an inch, brainwaves, and brain activity. We also assess the brain's timing, coordination, and rhythm down to the millisecond, among other exams, including an autonomic nervous system exam. This last exam is crucial due to how Post-Concussion Syndrome and TBI can mimic another condition known as POTS Syndrome but may be initially diagnosed as a head injury. People with head injuries are more susceptible to developing POTS, which affects blood flow regulation and nervous system function. POTS patients can experience dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigue, headaches, brain fog, and balance issues--quite similar to the symptoms of a concussion and can range in severity from mild to severe. POTS is manageable, and Better Brain & Body is one of the leading clinics for holistic POTS Syndrome care in North Carolina. However, it is important to note that a patient may indeed have both POTS Syndrome or a head injury or both, but this needs to be determined by a qualified specialist like Dr. Alicia Brown or your trusted healthcare provider.
Harnessing Neuroplasticity & the Power of the Brain
A TBI can disrupt the brain's networks, affecting various aspects of your life. But the brain is an astonishingly adaptive organ, capable of rewiring itself through neuroplasticity (the brain's ability to adapt and change). Better Brain & Body specializes in assessing the intricacies of your neurological function post-TBI. With a deep understanding of how different areas of the brain influence each other, we craft tailored rehabilitation programs that target specific pathways for recovery.
Our TBI/Concussion Approach
Our goal is not only to aid in your physical recovery but also to help you regain cognitive clarity and emotional well-being. Through targeted exercises, sensory stimulation, and innovative therapies, we create a comprehensive rehabilitation plan that fosters neuroplasticity. Vestibular rehabilitation, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, eye movement exercises, neurofeedback, and sensory integration techniques are among some of the tools we use to help your brain reconnect and rewire itself.
We understand the underlying neurological complications related to traumatic brain injuries and are dedicated to you and helping your specific needs. Through our non-invasive innovative processes, we help repair the brain by encouraging targeted activities in the affected areas to restore and enhance functionality. We aim to create a personalized treatment plan that helps maximize our patient's quality of life. There is hope for those struggling to recover from a brain injury.
